Mexico has long been a popular vacation destination for North Americans. However, today it is much more than that -- it is rapidly becoming a desirable place to live. According to the U.S. State Department, more than 1 million U.S. citizens reside in Mexico, which represents approximately 1% of the Mexican population and 25% of all U.S. citizens abroad. With each passing month more than 5,000 Americans are entering this market to purchase second homes. Who is doing the buying? Baby boomers. Members of the boomer generation are retiring at a rate of about 10,000 per day, and many are seeking sunny alternatives to expensive U.S. markets.
